John Kasich
John Kasich served the public for more than twenty years, first as an Ohio State Senator, and later as a Congressman from Ohio’s 12th Congressional District. Kasich was the chief architect of the 1997 plan that balanced the federal budget and eliminated the federal deficit. He also chaired the congressional committee that wrote the final version of the welfare reform bill that became law in 1996. He left the Congress in 2001 to join Lehman Brothers as Managing Director of their Investment Banking Group that covers the complete range of industry groups including health care, power and utilities, technology, retail and financial institutions. In addition, Kasich currently hosts his own television program on The Fox News Channel called “Heroes with John Kasich.” This show profiles everyday Americans who do extraordinary things to improve their communities or better the lives of others. He also wrote a best-selling book about many of these individuals, Courage is Contagious.
