Dr. M. Edgar (Ed) Barrett holds the J. Kenneth and Jeannette Seward Chair in Global Strategy at Thunderbird – The American Graduate School of International Management. Previous academic positions include Harvard Business School, Southern Methodist University, INSEAD (Visiting) and Columbia (Executive Education). His areas of expertise include strategy formulation and implementation in globally-oriented enterprises; the use of executive education programs as change agents in large organizations; financial and accounting issues for the non-financial manager; and, managerial issues in the energy sector. Ed received a Sloan Certificate and MBA and doctoral degrees from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. He has designed, developed and delivered executive education and/or graduate level business courses for corporate clients and graduate business schools in North America, Western Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America and Africa. He has won numerous awards for his teaching performance and has held three different endowed chairholder positions during his career. Dr. Barrett’s research interests have largely focused on field research and case writing in the areas of expertise noted above. Articles by him were published in a variety of periodicals, including Harvard Business Review and Financial Analysts Journal . Cases written or supervised by Dr. Barrett have been printed in several languages and included in more than 60 different published books. Dr. Barrett is president of Management Education Center, Inc. Previously he had worked in the private sector as both a staff accountant and an administrator.
